1.
Away 06:52
As I watched the tranquil sea From the edge of the bay I had a dream of home far away And my life led astray I saw visions of grey skies And gentle rains Oh, the madness faded away As the forest swayed I set sail for foreign shores In pursuit of dreams Now I long to escape this cage And free myself from the pain The chaos of the machine Tears at my mind And the neon glow of night It blinds my eyes In a sea of sullen faces I can’t meet an eye In this land of empty lives My dreams die Away Away Please take me Far away
2.
Pain 05:03
Once more, I see you at war with yourself And the battle seems so pointless to fight Looking in, your world seems so dark A life strewn with a thousand shades of grey Are you in pain Or longing for something more? ‘Cause I worry for you More than you know Sometimes the world seems so bleak And the light at the end of the tunnel can’t be seen FIGHT!
3.
Victim 04:56
In the deep forests of home Where the mountains pierce the endless sky You felt nothing but misery That’s how it always seemed to be Rain poured down on my life, our time Rain drowned my thoughts and my eyes You’re playing victim again You lay your pain upon my shoulders But you know I’m not to blame I always knew it would end in hate Now in the city by the sea Where the blinding lights never die There is still nothing but sadness Will it always be because of me? A victim again You lay your hate upon my shoulders But I know I’m not to blame Oh will you forever wallow in your pain?

Peace 05:12
5.
Clarity 06:10
Another impasse A path blocked by doubt Every road leads me to nowhere I feel so lost In a sea of my fears I must break these chains away Clarity Fall upon me In my hour of need Will you find me? Clarity Lift my veiled eyes Heal my wounds And show me the way Stopped again I question myself I’m stuck in an endless maze Thoughts awry I look deep inside But the answers seem to hide Clarity Take my hand again Lift the storm clouds That plague my life Clarity Numb the fear again Light a way for me To rise above it all
6.
Drown 07:44
Drown in your mistakes Embrace the pain you create Follow your path to self-destruction You live your whole life in vain Your path is clear, yet you can’t see it Opportunities, all thrown away Look at yourself in the mirror What do you have to say? And could it be there’s another chance for you To right your wrongs and find a way? Will you rise above the mountains tall And greet the dawn of a new day? Every day you’re growing colder Every day is just the same And now I see you slipping closer To a grave that calls your name
7.
Tranquility 06:28
The world out here is so still Here in the heart of the forest I can feel the silence I can feel the tranquility deep within me It’s in the shade of the forest I make my communion And am free from the trials of the day Now a cool breeze blows Through the leaves on the trees And it mends my weary soul
8.
Finale 10:10
I had a late night revelation When the stars all seemed to align And in the shining waters before me I beheld my life’s end As sure as the moon does rise The sun will set on my life And in time I will fade away In the finale of my days And as the stillness overwhelmed me I arose from the shore Reborn, I would live for today I would fear nevermore I’m alive

about

Hey! My name is Ryan Schmeister and I'd like to welcome you to Tranquility, my first solo album. Tranquility is a labour of love four years in the making that takes the form of eight very personal songs, each inspired equally by the journey of life and the beauty of nature.

On the surface level, Tranquility is a progressive metal album, but looking deeper, influences abound. The record takes cues from ambient, new age, electronic, folk, classical and rock to create a reverb-laden wall of sound that is simultaneously overwhelming yet tranquil.

Tranquility was written, produced, recorded, engineered, programmed, mixed and mastered entirely by myself and I'm incredibly proud of how the album turned out. It is exactly what I set out to create when I began to write the music at age 16.

Thank you for the interest and support. It means the world to me!
